We came back AGAIN! 7th time in 10 years and we still found new things to do/visit, alongside our usual 2 walks in the ‘garden’. The fields and woods have obviously had so much time spent on them since we first came, each year we notice changes – amazing! Our ‘dog holiday’ once again surpassed our expectations, thank you Sue, Jonah, Barney and Teddy! See you again next year.

Wow! What a wonderful place to stay. Views to die for, peaceful countryside, from sitting having a meal looking out at the view to walking in the garden and woodland. Perfect place for reactive/noise sensitive dogs. Cottage is so comfortable and fully equipped with all that you need for a great holiday stay. Sue and Jonah are wonderful hosts, they could not do enough for you and very helpful about where to go and what to see. The Cream Tea on arrival was a lovely surprise and most welcome after a long journey. Can’t wait to go again, we would highly recommend this cottage. Matt, Aga, and Ava.

You have thought of everything we might need, plus so many additional little touches which were noticed. The Welcome Afternoon Tea and dog treats went down very well at the start and as the week went on we found ourselves slowing down more and more with little need to leave! We enjoyed just having family time, playing games and taking in the beautiful landscape and cabin in the woods. Thanks for all you have done to make it so lovely! We hope to be back sometime. Fabulous cottage with the most wonderful setting – views in every direction. Loved the paddock field and the little wood with its wooden cabin. Thoroughly enjoyed the Welcome Cream Tea. Brynn and Ocea really enjoyed their holiday too, running and playing with Barney, Teddy and Simba. We feel completely rested and we were lucky with the weather.

This is our 3rd year staying at Basel Cottage and each year is more wonderful than the last. Our welcome from Sue, Jonah, Teddy and Barney was like we had ‘come home’. So many great recommendations for places to visit and eat. Noal and Kevin thoroughly enjoyed their shooting lesson and opportunity to ride on the ATV. This is our first stay at Basel Cottage. What a gorgeous place, a beautiful comfortable cottage with a tranquil atmosphere , well equipped with everything you would possibly need. Stunning views, with plenty of additional activities to enjoy, an amazing safe place to call home for the duration of our stay. Sue and Jonah thank you, for making us so welcome and catering for the special needs of our old dog. We have eaten out a few times and found the Kings Head in Llandovery very nice and dog friendly. What an absolute privilege to come and stay at Basel Cottage. Never has a ‘Dog Friendly’ cottage even come close to this!! Sue and Jonah are the perfect hosts and we are so very sad that our week is over!! The cottage is stunning, the views amazing. We loved some evening golf, had a games tournament and wandered to the Cabin in the Woods for sunrise. The map in the kitchen gave our route planners inspiration and we have walked almost 35 miles. Well, here we are again – I’ve lost count now of how many times we’ve come to this lovely place! We love everything about it – Sue and Jonah make Basel Cottage a home from home. The scenery is wonderful in all seasons. Our old dog Tan, absolutely adored coming here – he, Barney and Ted played themselves senseless – now Flynn is learning, not that ‘the boys’ don’t have some reservations!!! THANK YOU BOTH.
Coming here is a little like coming home. This was our second stay here and it was even better than we remembered. The local shops are run by friendly and courteous people, the weather was perfect, even when raining and Jonah and Sue helped make this a very happy holiday. We can thoroughly recommend the archery and shooting Jonah offers! The cottage is clean, warm, comfortable and well equipt and we cannot wait for our next stay here! Thank you very much!

Oh my, what can we say about Basel Cottage? It’s probably the first self catering place we’ve stayed that is absolutely spotless! Honestly, you have both thought of everything to make our stay perfect. The weather was fantastic, a little too hot at times and Ernie loved spending time with Teddy and Barney – A doggy paradise! Thank you for an amazing holiday! The cottage is perfect and spotlessly clean. Garden/Grounds are fab, we all had a great time exploring and I don’t think Lola wants to leave. The boys had Archery and Target Air Rifle Shooting with Jonah – this was top notch! – Fabulous tuition, relaxed and not rushed – he was a very patient tutor with my excited boys. Pure bliss for him, no collar on for the length of his stay which was wonderful. Our few nights here were relaxing and comfortable. Sue and Jonah were the perfect hosts – THANK YOU for being you! This is our 6th visit to Basel Cottage and each time it seems to get better and better! The weather has been wonderful. We only ventured out once to Zip Wire World, Aberdare – everybody loved it! We had a nice meal at The King’s Head in Llandovery. We spent most of our time on site with Archery, Golf, Table Tennis, Darts and Billiards. Looking forward to returning in July. x
We have just enjoyed our second stay at Basel Cottage and are very impressed by the facilities offered by Sue and Jonah. These include, pitch and putt, a woodland chalet, fire pit and a comfortable outdoor seating area.The cottage itself is spotless and has all of the amenities you would wish for on holiday. It is totally welcoming as are Sue and Jonah and their lovely poodles. Barney made himself very comfortable on my lap.We would recommend Basel Cottage to anyone wishing to tour the Brecons and South Wales generally.Thank you Sue and Jonah for a lovely holiday, we can’t wait to be with you again.

Wow, what a truly amazing time we had. Just back from a three night break (not long enough!!). Prior booking communications were excellent and informative. On arrival we were met by the lovely owners, Sue and Jonah and their gorgeous dogs, Barney and Teddy.
Views are incredible, as are the 17 acres which our three Labs really enjoyed including a stream, bluebell wood, all secure and very well maintained. You can really be at peace that your dogs are safe and have so much freedom!
The cottage was beautiful, everything you could possibly need, very clean, comfortable and spacious; Sue and Jonah really have thought of everything to make this a real home from home we certainly wished this was our home !!).
Privacy was well respected and Sue and Jonah were on hand to have a chat with us and share invaluable information about the surrounding areas. Being very protective dog owners we had no worries when Sue and Jonah dog sat for us for a few hours.
We would be back month after month if we could !

A fabulous relaxing week, helped along by the beautiful sunshine. Gary had great fun metal detecting and he found a Roman Coin, George III 1/2 Penny, Victorian Penny and many artefacts spanning approximately 300 years! Ghost our Husky has left his ‘glitter’ in the woods for the birds to enjoy! A beautiful cottage, lovely and homely.

The Autumn colours are just stunning and the misty, moisty mornings ethereal – we miss the blaze of colours on the Lizard where we live! Another fantastic visit to Basel Cottage. It has been wonderful to be able to spend a few relaxing days exploring and trying out the new additions. Although the weather didn’t encourage us to sit at the firepit, the cabin in the woods made for a fab retreat. Thank you Sue & Jonah for making us feel welcome as ever. Our 6th visit! We cannot believe the amount of effort that Sue and Jonah have put in since our last visit 2 years ago – we thought the cottage and surrounding area was great before but the efforts that have gone in have made Basel Cottage even more special. Where do we start? We have had an amzing break and returning home relaxed. This has been the best cottage we have ever stayed in by far and we cannot wait to return. You have a special place here and if you ever want someone to move in we’ll be here! You are both so lovely and welcoming and you have thought of everything to make Basel Cottage so beautiful. We have loved the bird feeders. The dogs do not want to go home just like their owners. x

‘A Wonderful Stay’ – Basel Cottage has been the perfect place to meet up with our son and his girlfriend after not seeing each other through lockdown. Sue, Jonah, Barney and Teddy have provided a most welcoming environment for us to catch-up on family time. We have walked, golfed and played table tennis at Basel Cottage and managed to have breakfast on the decking – weather permitting!! We have visited the Dams, the Coast, the Brecon Beacons – eaten out and at Basel Cottage and enjoyed both.
Nothing has been too much trouble for Sue and Jonah and our dogs, PJ and Ned have had a ‘Wale(s)’ of a time!!! Thank you Barney and Teddy for keeping them entertained. Hope to be back one day. Thank you so much. x

I have had a lovely first visit to Basel Cottage after hearing so much about it. Cara and I have loved exploring the woods – Cara especially!!! Back for our fifth visit after a ‘rocky’ year – how great it has been to have a change of scene in this beautiful place. Thank you Sue & Jonah for another wonderful week after our first visit in August last year. The Cottage and your land are just wonderful and the Cream Tea on arrival very welcoming. We have done plenty of walks in the local area and Llansteffan Beach and the Coastal Path is a real gem. The food in Pengawse Tea Rooms was as good as we remembered and the pasties from the Bakery also recommended. Thank you for making a holiday possible in these difficult times. We will return again!

Such a lovely cottage and warm welcome on arrival. The Cream Tea went down very well. Although it rained every day ( not all day each day thank goodness!) we had a great time visiting lots of places. Stunning cottage in an amazing location. Thank you for the wonderful scones on arrival. Rebecca had never tried them before and she is now a big fan of them! We had a fantastic time visiting Hay on Wye and museums in Swansea after travelling on the Heart of Wales Railway. Also went on the lovely Gwili Steam Railway. Took in the wonderful scenery this area has to offer and recommend the roads around Lynne Briane Reservoir. Also recommend Pengawse Tea Rooms in Llandovery – lovely food and large portions. Thanks for a fantastic week, we will be back again!
Excellent stay. Sue and Jonah provided a delicious Cream Tea on arrival! Very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. Walked miles! Llyn y Fan Fach and parts of the Brecon Way. It is worth visiting the National Trust Gold Mines. Ate at The Castle Hotel which was very friendly. Good to avoid the crowds so will definitely be back! Many Thanks.

A wonderful week in a perfect cottage. Sue and Jonah are wonderful hosts – helpful but not intrusive! We walked Pen Y Fan and Llyn Y Fan Fach – great to explore an area of Wales we don’t know well. The gardens and woods, hills and river are great for children and dogs; especially beautiful with the bluebells in bloom! We would love to come back one day.

Fabulous accommodation and lovely surroundings. Sue and Jonah greeted us with enthusiasm and were keen for us to make the most of our stay at Basel Cottage. We were shown around the cottage, of which they are very proud and rightly so! The cottage was comfortable and very clean. The surrounding garden / land was fabulous with amazing views and superb walks. Our elderly dog Faith was made most welcome. A super location for a truly relaxing break. Would highly recommend!

A beautiful find for a last minute booking. Enjoyed the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and the British Birds of Prey Centre on the way here. Agree with other guests that the RSPB Walk is well worth doing. Stunning views all around Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr. Both Dinefwr Castle and Carreg Cennen Castle are well worth doing.

We have really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. We received a very warm welcome and a delicious Cream Tea. Our favourite walks were Four Waterfalls near Ystradfellte and the RSPB Reserve and Lake Brianne Dam. Can also recommend the train to Knighton to walk parts of Offa’s Dyke, where there is a very good Visitor Centre. We loved the local shops in Llandovery, superb choice of good food! Highly recommend No. 14 Coffee Shop for “to die-for” chocolate Brownies! Thank you Jonah and Sue for everything and all the best for the future.
Our stay in the Brecon Beacons was enhanced by your kind hospitality and your beautiful cottage. The morning drama at the Bird Table was great fun and set the mood for the day! Once again, thank you very much.

This is a wonderful home from home – everything that you need for a relaxing break. Sue and Jonah are perfect hosts and the Cream Tea on arrival was a lovely welcome surprise. The grounds are lovely for dog walking and Kukki does not want to go home! We explored the area and went to the National Botanic Garden of Wales – Monday’s being Doggy Day! There are so many places to visit and we loved sitting on the decking in the sunshine with a glass of wine! We hope to come back soon xxx

You can tell how much thought and love and of course hard work that goes into running this beautiful cottage! There is so much space inside and outside and the views and tranquility of the setting is second to none. It was absolutely perfect for us and Murphy enjoyed playing and exploring outside. Basel Cottage is a lovely property, both inside and out. It’s well decorated and has everything you’ll need. The owners are lovely, leaving you in doubt that you can contact them if you need anything, but otherwise just leaving you to your own devices. They’re also genuinely dog-friendly and the grounds are great for keeping your dog amused. I would heartily recommend Basel Cottage!

Beautiful 5* cottage in a fabulous location. We had a wonderful week that went so quick. Lovely Cream Tea on arrival. Paul & Kieran loved Bike Park Wales. Great days out at Newquay, the Waterfalls and Usk Reservoir. Lots of good food at The Bear Inn and Castle Hotel in Llandovery. Merlin, the Red Setter, will miss the garden and the woods. Dear Sue & Jonah, We had an amazing week! We were lucky enough to have beautiful and sunny weather almost the entire week! The hiking tour of the two lakes – Llyn Y Fan Fach and Llyn Y Fan Fawr was our personal favourite, really exhausting but absolutely worth it! – The view is breath-taking! But best of all was coming home to a lovely cottage in the evening, which obviously had taken a lot of work! So much love has been put into it and it really felt like home – Thank you for that. Hopefully we will come back again!

Basel Cottage is now firmly our No.1 ‘Go to’ cottage when we need to recharge our batteries! Despite awful weather Sue and Jonah create the most perfect spot to enjoy the peace and quiet. The antics at the bird table can keep you amused and entertained for hours! Thank You.

We have really enjoyed our week at Basel Cottage. The welcome with scones and tea was much appreciated. Sue and Jonah have been great hosts, making sure we had everything we needed. The standard of accommodation is first class and very comfortable. Sheba certainly enjoyed her walks! Watching the wildlife from the lounge window-seat was brilliant and we have many photos! We have been quite lucky with the weather apart from the storm on Friday! We have had several cottage holidays but Basel Cottage has been the best by far – Thank you Sue and Jonah.
It was our second time here in Basel Cottage! All we can say is: In more than 10 years of holidays all over Great Britain, this definitely is the best cottage we have ever stayed in! The location is fantastic, so peaceful, so quiet! Thank you Sue & Jonah for everything – we will miss Wales and Basel Cottage! You are fantastic hosts! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Basel Cottage. The cottage is extremely clean, well equipped and there are many leaflets, books and ideas for trips out and walks. Our dogs loved the enclosed field, stream and woods and we loved the rustic benches / picnic tables around the property – especially the seats on the decking. Sue & Jonah were brilliant, friendly and knowledgeable hosts, always on hand for advice, help and ideas. Thank you for a lovely week!

A superb week, the cottage is comfortable and welcoming. The location ideal and the weather was kind to us. We walked every day and had some good walks around Llandovery.

A wonderful stay and do not want to leave. Loved watching the birds on the feeders and seeing the red kites. Matt enjoyed a night sleeping in the woods and Fenn loved splashing in the river. Lovely cottage and Sue has been a wonderful host.
