Earlier in the year, we were delighted to host Instagram favourite Ruby the Chocolate Cockapoo and her Mum and Dad, Gabriela and Matthew whilst they were on a Press Trip kindly arranged by Discover Carmarthenshire. Ruby is living her best ‘Cockapoo Life’ travelling around the UK and having fun adventures and offering inspiration and tips to fellow dog owners.
Ruby based herself at Basel Cottage for three nights whilst she visited a host of dog friendly attractions and eateries throughout Carmarthenshire. Their itinerary included visits to our local Market Town Llandovery and nearby Llandeilo as well as the larger town of Carmarthen.
Dog Friendly Days Out:
Popular dog friendly days out included trips to Llansteffan Castle and Beach, Gwenffrwd-Dinas RSPB Reserve, Talley Abbey, Carreg Cennen Castle and the National Botanic Garden of Wales, which has the world’s largest single-span glasshouse. Carmarthenshire is known as The Garden of Wales and has many beautiful gardens and green spaces. In addition to an abundance of castles and historical monuments, Carmarthenshire boasts miles of glorious sandy beaches. There are miles of amazing cycling and walking trails and lots of opportunities to shop and taste award-winning local food.
Ruby had a fantastic time exploring our 17 acres of land including our enclosed garden and private woodland as well as venturing down to the River Bran for a quick paddle in the water. Playtime with Barney and Teddy aka ‘The Basel Boys’ was also a hit. This was followed by a snooze on the window seat which has been christened the ‘Best Seat in the House’ by our previous four-legged guests! Ruby spent her evenings snuggling up to Mum and Dad on the sofas enjoying the warmth from the log burner whilst Gariela and Matthew enjoyed sampling locally produced culinery delights!
