Earlier in the year, we were delighted to host Instagram favourite Ruby the Chocolate Cockapoo and her Mum and Dad, Gabriela and Matthew whilst they were on a Press Trip kindly arranged by Discover Carmarthenshire. Ruby is living her best ‘Cockapoo Life’ travelling around the UK and having fun adventures and offering inspiration and tips to fellow dog owners. Ruby based herself at Basel Cottage for three nights whilst she visited a host of dog friendly attractions and eateries throughout Carmarthenshire. The Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards 2018/2019 were held on Wednesday 6 June 2018 at the Best Western Diplomat Hotel, Wales where the Winners in 16 categories were announced at a glittering ceremony. The evening provided an opportunity for Tourism Businesses to celebrate our industry across the County. Basel Cottage Holidays was announced as the Winners of the Self Catering Accommodation of the Year (2 units or less) and Sue and Jonah were there to receive their Award from West Wales Holiday Cottages who generously sponsored the category. Brecon Beacons Tourism Awards 2016 – shortlisted businesses announced, which include Basel Cottage Holidays! 12th September 2016 Brecon Beacons Tourism are thrilled to announce that a record number of tourism businesses from across the Brecon Beacons have entered the first ever Brecon Beacons Tourism Awards with 32 businesses and community groups being shortlisted. A panel of independent judges whittled down all entries into the announced shortlist. We were thrilled that HRH The Prince of Wales happily agreed to sign a copy of his own Watercolours Book at the launch of the Llandovery Motorbike Weekend. The Book was later auctioned at the Charity Lunch that we held at The Castle Hotel in Llandovery in aid of The Prince’s only Welsh Charity, PRIME Cymru. More than eighty people wishing to support PRIME Cymru enjoyed a fantastic four-course summer themed luncheon and afterwards were keen to support further by taking part in a raffle also in aid of the Charity where local businesses had kindly donated a huge array of fantastic prizes – A good time was had by all!
On Friday 8th July 2016 HRH The Prince of Wales launched the inaugural Llandovery Motorbike Weekend by dropping the flag on a Parade of bikes through the town. The three day event was triggered by a Charity Lunch in aid of HRH’s only Welsh charity PRIME Cymru (The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise) which is based in Llandovery. The initiative behind the weekend was to reduce losses arising from road collisions whilst at the same time contribute to the sustainable future of the town.
