Despite planting over 3000 native trees over the past couple of years here at Basel Cottage, we are continuing with our programme of tree and shrub planting. Throughout our land and in our enclosed woodland we plan to ensure the woods remain for centuries to come.
PLANT BRITAIN:
We are now very happy to be supporting the Plant Britain Initiative launched recently by the BBC’s Countryfile programme. Plant Britain is an ambitious two-year challenge to get us all planting to help combat climate change. And at the same time, it will help to boost our wellbeing and wildlife.
Plant Britain launch with the goal of planting 750,000 trees – one for every UK primary school starter in 2020. Whilst they kick off with trees, over the next two years Plant Britain will also be looking at fruit, vegetables and flowers. So why not get involved yourself at home and whatever you plant, be sure to log it on their interactive map.

OUR GIFT TO YOU:
For every new booking at Basel Cottage and for those who have already reserved their dates, we will give you your own sapling (at no extra cost to yourself) to plant in our woodland. Dependant on the season, we will provide the tools for you to personally plant and add a personal name marker to your tree. If planting has to be delayed until the Autumn or Spring, we will plant your tree and provide you with a photograph of your tree in its chosen spot. You will also be able to see its progress whenever you are able to return to stay with us here at Basel Cottage.
